Update: The last 2 posts didn’t get a deferred message, and at least one gmail user got the post, and my re-forwarding. I am therefore suspending the re-forwarding in the hope the problem is fixed.
Unless the deferred messages resurface I won’t know if there is still a problem soI am relying on gmail users to tell me if they notice posts they weren’t notified of.
This post is for Gmail users (there are currently 30 subscribed).
Whenever I post a message I get the following message for each Gmail user:
<firstname.lastname@example.org>… Deferred: 451-4.3.0 Multiple destination domains per transaction is unsupported. Please
I don’t even know what follows “Please”, but I think it is a request to resend.
I believe Google consider this a feature, though others consider it a bug. Also I think a lot of providers have ways of getting around this, but not the hosts of my webspace.
I have a simple work around. I have built a Gmail address list and as each post is notified back to my normal email address I will simply forward it to the Gmail addresses.
However this bypasses the subscribe/unsubscribe process. I will monitor for new Gmail subscribers, but I will not notice a Gmail unsubscriber, so if you are on Gmail and wish to unsubscribe please just send me an email (just click on my picture).
If things change, or are different from my understanding, e.g. you get the regular post as well as my forwarded one, or you discover you are getting nothing (you see posts on the website you haven’t been notified of) please also let me know.
Hopefully this situation will only be temporary.
