Jimmy Warburton has shared several pictures of the Quaker family over the years. Many were sent before I had a Gallery to show them, and a couple aren’t particularly good quality, but they are an interesting record of an emigrant family. A subset of the photos appeared in Issue 21 of the Newsletter.
Most of these pictures are of Jimmy’s father, Frederick James, but his grandfather Frederick W is shown middle left as a young man, and his great grandparents, Levi and Alice are top right.
Jimmy’s Great Great Grandfather Peter emigrated, with most of his family, from Hyde, Cheshire in 1852, shortly after his first wife died. He married Martha Kerfert, nee Mitchell, in 1853, and they had a son John who died aged 1. Peter’s son from his first marriage, also called Peter (1839-92), is also in the grave.
The grave of Levi S Warburton records his service in the American Civil war in Company F of the 1st Massachusetts Heavy Artillery 1862-1865.
This picture includes Levi, his wife Alice and son Frederick W. There would appear to be other family members who not included in the Quaker Family tree.
